Cortijo Grande is located in the municipality of Almogia, the property have a plot of 36,000m2 ,and the house building size its 4.000 m2 aproximately, divided in two floors.

Property History:

Cortijo Grande or San Ildefonso Convent, from the Jesuit order, must be related to other buildings of the Almogía term. Cortijo la Dehesa or Cortijo del Carmen, also Jesuit property until the expulsion of this order from Spain in 1767, and like this one, also in the hands of the Antúnez family until today .

The building sits on a hill, on the southern slope of the hill of Cortijo Grande, and in the vicinity of Villanueva de la Concepción, facing south and giving back to the highlands of the Torcal.

The news about the building began in the 17th century, although before and in the area, we should refer to the old Roman road, later Camino Real from Malaga to Antequera, which passes through its vicinity, via already mentioned when reviewing the Cortijo la Dehesa and Venta del Fraile or Cantarraiján de Almogía.

By 1626 the city of Antequera litigated against the cattle of the Jesuits, reason why they drove them of the Cortijo Grande to lands of Malaga, in particular to the cortijo of the Dehesa, but the building maintained its livestock uses at least until century XVIII . In the Cadastre of the Marquis de la Ensenada, from 1747, it is mentioned as an estate of the Company of Jesus with dedication livestock, "with cows, more than 500 sheep and more than 500 goats.

He was auctioned in the same lot as this one and the sale of Cantarraiján in 1770, and passed to the hands of "Don Manuel Blasco y Vargas, master knight in the city of Ronda."

In private hands, the building and the farm continued with the explotation of dryland cereals and livestock, and now olive cultivation is added, for which a double beam oil mill is built.

Already in our century, the building passed into the hands of the Antúnez family, who accumulated numerous farms and farmhouses in the neighboring municipalities of Almogía and Álora, dedicating them to extensive cattle raising, olive groves and horse breeding.

Cortijo Grande is a perfect place to be renovated and to be exploited as business, it´s located in the perfect emplacement and his impressive architecture give it a very attractive character.
